Nevada City Rotary Radio Auction March 20
John is proud to be returning to the role of announcer for this year's Nevada City Rotary Radio Auction on March 20, 2010.
Nevada City Rotary is committed the youth of our community. The Club supports a number of youth projects and organizations including Bear River Interact Club, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), Rotary Speech Tournament and Music Tournament, 4H/FFA Livestock Auction, Friendship Club Scholarship, Drew Reynolds Memorial Scholarship, and several other scholarships.
For many years John and Sandra have played an active role in coordinating one of the most memorable projects, the Rock Creek Nature Hike and BBQ. Each year, the Club partners with the U.S. Forest Service, Seven Hills Middle School Leadership Class, and Champion Mine School to pair handicapped with healthy children to teach them about our forests. Students from the leadership class are matched with a “buddy” from the handicapped school to take them on the Rock Creek Nature Trail. Along the way, the children learn about nature and wildlife as well as how to deal with each other. Smokey Bear always makes a heart-warming surprise visit!
All proceeds from the auction go to supporting these and other local youth programs.
You can purchase a great selection of items by calling into KNCO 830 at 530 478-6090 between 9am and 2pm on March 30. Visit NCRotary.org website for auction items and details. Enjoy great deals and make a difference for the young people in our community by participating in the Nevada City Rotary Radio Auction!
John and Sandra have been involved with Rotary for many years both locally and in Mexico. Recently John and Sandra donated a much needed wheelchair on behalf of the Nevada City Rotary for use by patients at a medical clinic near Cabo San Lucas. They have also been responsible for donating a small refrigerator to store insulin and other medicines.
