While boating on Scotts Flat Lake or driving through town, we are now greeted with vibrant Red Maples, golden Liquid Amber, and majestic yellow Oaks. And to think, the peak of our Fall season is still weeks away!
For those of you who don't live in Nevada County, Fall is a gorgeous time to visit. Many claim we have a more brilliant Fall color display than any other area west of New England.
In addition to beautful walks in town and hikes along the Yuba River, we have a lot of entertainment to offer.
This weekend September 24 - 27 is the premier Draft Horse Classic and Harvest Fair. For four days, the gentle giants take center stage with spectacular performances and competitions. Art at the Classic, lumberjack demonstrations, a clogging jamboree and more continue through the weekend at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. On Saturday, many of the area's finest restaurants and wineries host "A Taste of the Gold Country: Food & Wine Fest".
On October 3-4 we are participating in the 13th Annual KVMR Celtic Festival. Join us and transport yourself to the Medieval Celtic Festival Marketplace. Delight in music, dance, sports, food and more!
Also October 3-4, is Music in the Mountain's 2009 Designs for Living Home Tour. Curious to visit some amazing architecturally unique homes around Nevada City and Grass Valley? Seven beautiful homes are on the tour including a Georgian Revival, Tahoe Craftsman, restored 1850's and a contemporary collector's dream home.
Before long the holiday season will be upon us. Nevada City and Grass Valley host festive events for Thanksgiving and then in December with Victorian Christmas and Cornish Christmas Celebrations.
For more details visit our Nevada County Local Events - Fall section on our website. We hope you will come visit and discover why Nevada County really is a wonderful place to live!
Sincerely,
John and Sandra
